How to arrive
Pucón is located 109 kms. from Temuco, 25 kms. from Villarica, and 789 kms. from the capital city, Santiago.
You can fly to Araucanía Airport in Temuco, at 110 km. from Pucon. There are intercity minivans connecting you directly from the airport to Pucon. Santiago-Temuco flights are offered by Sky Airline and LAN, and the journey takes around one and a half hours.
From nearby cities you can arrive to Pucon by interurban buses, with departures several times per day. From Temuco there are departures every half hour. The majority of buses which come from Santiago travel overnight, and the journey takes around 9 hours.
There are two bus stations in Santiago:
- Terminal Alameda: Av. Bernardo O’Higgins 3570, metro Universidad de Santiago. Phone: (56-2) 7762424
- Terminal Santiago (ex-Terminal Sur): Alameda y Nicasio Retamales, 150 m. west to Terminal Alameda. Phone: (56-2) 3761750
From the north, using the Pan-American Highway (Ruta 5), you can come to Pucon directly from Santiago, Concepción, and Temuco. At Freire, you have to turn to Villarica and then continue to Pucon along the lakeside road. The road is in excellent condition, and normally the trip Santiago-Pucon takes around 9-10 hours.
